Perhaps the only thing that shocks me as much as the utter disaster which was the Steamboat General Slocum's June 15, 1904 excursion, is that it so quickly slipped into obscurity. For many years I wanted to do a series of paintings based on the General Slocum Disaster, here they are so far, in the order they were painted.
